Kitchen Assistant - Woodlands

We are looking for an experienced Kitchen Assistant to join our lovely Active Neuro team at Woodlands, York.

Woodlands Neurological Rehabilitation Centre provides specialist level 2A neurological rehabilitation, treatment, slow stream rehabilitation, inpatient and outpatient care, as well as neurobehavioural services for up to 27 adults.

Located in a residential area near Hull Road Park, our purpose-built facility has 27 ensuite bedrooms set within a three-and-a-half-acre plot that is surrounded by diverse and beautiful grounds.

What you'll be working:

Working 37.5 hours per week 4 days over 7 including working every other weekend.

Salary - £25,204.63 per annum (pro rata)

What you'll be doing:

• To provide excellent catering support to the Chefs. Role includes but is not limited to salad and sandwich preparation, vegetable preparation, washing of dishes and cleaning of kitchen and equipment within it.
• To support the Chefs with the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen to ensure the centre’s reputation for food quality is always maintained.
• To ensure that the centre’s reputation for food quality and service is enhanced with everyone that uses the facility.
• To drive and maintain the highest standards of food safety and hygiene,
• Ensuring the centre meets all relevant legislation on food preparation and handling, including observance of the HACCP and Safer Food Better Business Principals as well as COSHH
• Observing the company controls for portion size and monitoring waste.
• Maintaining records relating to food production activities and supplies information as required by the Hotel services Director.
• To work to planned menus preparing salads, sandwiches and any other food items as is required by the Chef
• To avoid unnecessary wastage and deterioration of foodstuffs.
• To promote good relationships with staff, visitors and service users.
• To ensure that any handovers to catering staff are communicated clearly
• To maintain a clean environment, washing up and adhering to cleaning schedules.

What you'll have:

• A minimum Level 2 Food Safety qualification desirable
• Sound interpersonal and oral communication skills
• Ability to work as part of the team as well as to work on your own initiative
• Ability to be innovative

Requirements of the role:

• 37.5 hours per week. 4 days over 7 working every other weekend
• Flexible attitude to completing a range of catering duties, including cleaning and washing of dishes
• To be enthusiastic and conscientious, diligent and to have a flexible approach, and "can do attitude"
• Appointment will be subject to successful completion of an enhanced DBS check which the centre will cover the cost for.
• Attend any company training and complete mandatory eLearning
