This is an excellent opportunity to join a small, supportive team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of the people we support.
Meet our client:
I am a 33-year-old man with cerebral palsy, and I am looking for a Support Worker/Personal Assistant to join my small team of carers and help me maintain my independence and continue living life to the fullest.
I live with my family in an adapted home in the beautiful village of Hawkshaw, Bury. I am an active, sociable, and ambitious person, and I never let my disability define who I am or limit what I want to achieve. I enjoy learning new things, challenging myself, and making the most of every opportunity that comes my way.
I use an Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) device to support my communication, and this enables me to express my thoughts, feelings, and ideas effectively. Communication is a huge part of my life and career.
Professionally, I work with schools, providing support and mentoring around communication systems. I am also regularly invited to speak at national and international conferences, sharing my experiences and expertise with a wide range of audiences.
Outside of work, I lead a busy and varied life. I enjoy keeping fit and take part in a range of activities including physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, horse riding, boccia, drama, wheelchair football, educational courses, and social events. I also enjoy planning trips, meeting new people, and being involved in my local community.
Because of my active lifestyle, I am looking for someone who is much more than a carer. I need a person who is confident, adaptable, motivated, and willing to get involved in all aspects of my life. One day you might be supporting me to deliver a presentation at a conference, and the next you could be accompanying me to a football session, theatre group, or community activity.
A full driving licence is essential, as you will be required to drive my adapted vehicle.
Above all, I am looking for someone who is reliable, flexible, has a good sense of humour, and genuinely believes in promoting independence and person-centred support. While experience can be helpful, I value personality, confidence, initiative, and a positive attitude far more than qualifications. I need someone who can adapt their approach to different situations and provide the right level of support, enabling me to achieve my goals and be the best version of myself.
If you are looking for a rewarding, varied, and genuinely unique role where no two days are the same, I would love to hear from you.
