About this role
Make Every Day Matter – Join Our Person-Centred Care Team!
Solihull | Support Worker | Full-Time Hours Available
Would you love a rewarding role where you can make a real difference to someone’s everyday life?
Looking for a role with wake night shifts that fits your lifestyle?
At Active Assistance, we’re proud to be part of one of the UK’s leading providers of complex care at home. For over 30 years, we’ve been helping people live fulfilling, independent lives in the comfort of their own homes, with their choices, goals and individuality at the heart of everything we do.
We’re looking for a compassionate Support Worker to join our friendly, supportive team in Solihull, providing specialist care to a gentleman in his own home.
Meet Your Client
Our client is a quiet, friendly gentleman with a great sense of humour who enjoys good company, a laugh and a bit of friendly banter. He lives in his own accommodation alongside the family home and shares a close bond with his family.
A talented mouth painter, he belongs to a disabled people’s painting group and has sold several pieces of his artwork! He also enjoys playing cards with his Support Workers, watching films and TV, and listening to music. He loves attending live gigs when he can and values building genuine, positive relationships with the people supporting him.
He has a pet lizard and is also visited by Milo, the family dog, who may give an initial bark when meeting someone new.
Your role is about much more than providing care. Our client has capacity and directs his own care, so it’s essential that you listen to his wishes, respect his decisions and support him to live life his way.
When You’ll Be Working
- 3 wake night shifts per week, 7pm–7am
- Full-time hours available
- Alternate weekend working required
- All shifts are worked on a double-up basis, alongside another Support Worker
What Will You Be Doing?
Our client has a spinal cord injury, resulting in paralysis from the neck down. You’ll provide dedicated, person-centred support to help him remain comfortable, maintain his independence and enjoy everyday life in his own home.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering personal care with dignity, respect and sensitivity
- Supporting complex clinical needs, including tracheostomy care, humidification, nebulisers, cough assist, oral suctioning and oxygen
- Supporting PEG care and blood glucose monitoring
- Offering companionship and meaningful interaction, from a game of cards to a friendly chat
- Working collaboratively with your colleague to provide safe, consistent and compassionate care
What We’re Looking For
You’ll be someone who is:
- Kind, caring and compassionate, with a genuine desire to make a difference
- Reliable, flexible and committed to providing high-quality care
- A confident communicator who values teamwork and building trust
- Respectful of individual choices, dignity and independence
- A driver with a full, valid driving licence, willing and able to drive the client’s vehicle
What to Look Forward To:
- £13.50 per hour
- Flexible, zero-hours contract to suit your lifestyle
- An additional 14.07% holiday pay on every hour worked.
- NEST pension scheme
- Recognition through our Active Awards Programme
- Refer-a-Friend Bonus – earn up to £1,500
- Ongoing support from our brilliant clinical and leadership teams
