About this role

Come and join one of the UK’s largest providers in complex care. We proudly employ over 4000+ people - no matter what your experience, we have jobs for everyone.

Active Neuro, our specialist division of Active Care Group, is transforming neurorehabilitation in the UK. We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Speech and Language Therapist to join our team at The Laurels in Lincoln, working part-time, two days per week.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapist with experience in neurological rehabilitation to take ownership of the Speech and Language Therapy service, delivering high-quality, person-centred care to individuals with complex communication and swallowing needs.

The part-time nature of this role offers excellent flexibility, providing an opportunity to balance professional and personal commitments, complement an existing role or maintain a varied portfolio career, while continuing to make a meaningful contribution to a specialist rehabilitation service.

Working autonomously, you will manage a specialist caseload, undertaking assessments, developing individualised treatment plans and delivering evidence-based interventions. You will also play a key role within the multidisciplinary team (MDT), providing specialist advice, contributing to service development and supporting colleagues to ensure the best possible outcomes for those in our care.

If you are a passionate Senior Speech and Language Therapist with a background in neurological rehabilitation and are looking to develop your career within a specialist setting, we would love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently manage a specialist caseload, undertaking comprehensive assessments and developing, implementing and reviewing individualised treatment plans.
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions for individuals with complex neurological conditions, including aphasia, cognitive communication disorders, dysarthria, apraxia and dysphagia.
  • Assess and manage eating, drinking and communication needs, ensuring recommendations are clearly communicated to patients, families, carers and the wider MDT.
  • Take responsibility for the development and management of the Speech and Language Therapy service, identifying opportunities to improve clinical practice and service delivery.
  • Work collaboratively within the MDT, providing specialist advice, guidance and training to colleagues to support holistic rehabilitation.
  • Contribute to the development of clinical policies, guidelines and service improvements, ensuring practice remains evidence-based and in line with professional standards.
  • Monitor clinical outcomes, participate in audits and maintain accurate and timely clinical records.

About You

You will be a qualified Speech and Language Therapist, registered with the HCPC, with significant post-qualification experience in neurological rehabilitation and managing complex communication and swallowing needs. You will be confident working autonomously, managing your own caseload and taking responsibility for the development of the Speech and Language Therapy service.

You will also have:

  • Experience working with individuals with aphasia, cognitive communication disorders, dysarthria, apraxia and dysphagia.
  • Strong clinical assessment, reasoning and treatment planning skills, with a person-centred, goal-focused approach.
  • Knowledge of complex neurological conditions, rehabilitation techniques and evidence-based practice.
  • The ability to work independently, use initiative and manage competing clinical priorities effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to provide specialist advice, guidance and training to the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of clinical governance, outcome measures, research and audit processes.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with a commitment to reflective practice and continuous professional development.
  • A flexible, proactive approach and the ability to motivate individuals throughout their rehabilitation journey.

We also want to ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable facilities to participate in job applications or interviews to perform essential job functions. To support this, we are a Disability Confident employer.

At Active Care Group we want everyone to feel welcome and supported. We encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences. If you need any reasonable adjustments during the recruitment or interview process, just let us know and we’d be very happy to discuss this with you.
