We’re expanding our Active Assistance team and are seeking compassionate, dependable Female Support Workers to help a friendly, independent woman live in her home on Hartside in Durham as she continues life with a spinal cord injury.

This role is more than providing care — it’s about championing independence, building trust, and supporting someone to live life fully.

About the Client
She’s a vibrant, friendly woman who loves to look and feel her best — getting her hair and nails done is one of the little rituals that bring her joy. Comfort matters to her, but so does staying involved in the everyday activities she enjoyed before her injury, and she’s determined to keep pushing for as much independence as possible.

Therapy is an important part of her routine, including regular physiotherapy sessions, so she really values having a supportive driver who can help her get where she needs to be.

A true animal lover, she previously studied zoology and has always had a passion for animals. She loves spending time with her much-loved rabbit, and the family cat may also make the occasional appearance. She is settled into her new rental home and lives independently, with her mum and family dropping in for visits or the occasional stay to offer a bit of extra company.

Your Role
• Work 2:1 with the client, 12-hour day and night shifts (8am-8pm or 8pm-8am)

Day Shift Responsibilities

• Supporting with personal care and dressing
• Assisting with daily stretches and exercise programmes
• Supporting physiotherapy sessions three times per week
• Carrying out safe hoist transfers
• Helping maintain daily routines and promoting independence
• Supporting social activities and family visits
• Driving to appointments and occasional visits to Darlington
  (Full clean UK driving licence ideal — no international licences accepted due to insurance requirements)

Night Shift Responsibilities

• Providing reassurance and overnight support
• Assisting with personal care needs, including bowel care where required
• Support with transfers using appropriate equipment
• Collecting and transporting the client from Darlington when required
• Ensuring comfort, safety, and wellbeing throughout the night

In this role, you’ll support one individual with complex needs as part of a consistent care team, with regular weekly shifts and rotas planned in advance. While the role is offered on a flexible zero-hours contract, the work is ongoing and typically provides a stable working pattern with the same client.

• Up to£13.50 ph for days & up to £14 ph for nights initially on a flexible zero-hour contract (dependent on experience/qualifications)
