Support Worker / Companion – Frome

£15.75–£17.85 per hour, Nights £12.71-£13.71 per hour

2 evening shifts and 2 overnight shifts– 30 hours in total (12 daytime and 18 sleep in shifts)

Are you a warm, reliable person who enjoys helping someone get the most out of life?

We're looking for the right person to join a small, established team supporting an older gentleman in his own home in Frome.

Following a brain injury, he needs some help organising his day, maintaining routines and getting out and about. He is mobile and enjoys being active and engaged with everyday life.

This isn't just about "care". A large part of the role is companionship and helping someone maintain their independence — getting out for a coffee or lunch, going for walks, shopping, activities, appointments, days out and generally helping him have a good day.

You don't necessarily need to have worked in care before.

We're more interested in finding someone who is:

• Warm, patient and easy to get along with
• Reliable and trustworthy
• Confident using their own initiative
• Comfortable working one-to-one
• Able to follow professional guidance and work as part of a small team
• A good communicator with a positive outlook
• Genuinely interested in helping someone maintain an enjoyable and independent life

Experience in care, brain injury, dementia, healthcare, SEN, teaching, support work or similar would be useful, but finding the right person is more important than finding the perfect CV.

Full specialist training, supervision and ongoing support will be provided.

 £15.75 /hour weekdays and £12.71 sleep per hour
 £17.85 /hour weekends and 13.71 sleep per hour
 Sleep-in/night shifts also available
 Full driving licence required — you'll sometimes drive his vehicle
 Day, weekend and additional overtime maybe available
 Training provided
 Enhanced DBS and safer recruitment checks required and funded by the employer

This is as much about companionship, getting out, activities and helping someone enjoy everyday life as traditional care.

Previous care experience isn't necessarily required — personality and reliability matter enormously.

Full UK Driving licence required.

This could particularly suit someone from healthcare, education, SEN, emergency services, support work, community work — or simply someone who's naturally brilliant with people.
