We are pleased to offer an excellent opportunity for a passionate, dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our well-respected team at Murdostoun Brain Injury Rehabilitation and Neurological Care Centre.

Located in Newmains, Wishaw, we specialise in providing inpatient neurorehabilitation, care, and support to people over the age of 16 with a brain injury or other neurological condition. Our mission is to create a safe, nurturing environment where every individual we support feels empowered to live their best life possible.

At our Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre our highly skilled multidisciplinary team, comprising of nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, neuropsychology, speech and language therapy, psychiatry and led by consultant in rehabilitation medicine.  The team work closely together to deliver high-quality, patient-centred, goal focused interventions for individuals with complex acquired brain injuries requiring specialist inpatient rehabilitation.  This involves addressing a wide range of needs including physical, cognitive, emotional and behavioural difficulties through cognitive rehabilitation, functional retraining and community reintegration. 

In addition, ourNeurological Care Centre offers slow-stream rehabilitation, for those needing additional time to practise new skills before transitioning back home or into the community. Senior clinicians offer in reach for review of individuals with complex neurodisabilities, with opportunity for the person in this role to assist. 

We also provide care a complex disability service to support individuals with challenging conditions that make home care difficult.

Murdostoun Brain Injury Rehabilitation and Neurological Care Centre is part of the wider Active Care Group Neuro Network (consisting of 25+ sites nationally) and we focus on the use of clinical expertise, innovation and technology to meet patient’s expectations of rehabilitation goals.

What you'll be working:

This role is 22.5 hours per week.

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​What you'll be doing:

  • Provide specialist assessment and evidence-based, high-quality treatment of acquired brain injury, using a wide range of approaches to suit the patients’ varying needs
  • Develop rehabilitation plans with clear clinical reasoning and goal setting
  • Deliver and monitor innovative rehabilitation and care to promote independence
  • Manage and prioritise a complex caseload, ensuring timely completion of related administrative tasks such as record keeping
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, families, carers, and other members of the MDT
  • Work as part of the therapy team, sharing information and supporting colleagues
  • Support clinical supervision for therapy assistants and students

What you'll have:

  • HCPC registration
  • Previous experience of working in a neurorehabilitation setting would be an advantage
  • Knowledge and skills in assessment procedures
  • ​​Ability to motivate patients over long periods
  • Successful candidates will be required to undergo a Disclosure Scotland PVG check
