We'd like you to join us as a Head Chef at the Kings Norton Hospital in Birmingham. The role is part time, 38 hours per week.
Kings Norton Hospital is a 32 bedded purpose-built adult acute, Male and Female Acute Mental Health Unit’s providing a secure and safe, gender-specific environment for adults who have suffered an acute deterioration or relapse in their mental well-being. The hospital opened in December 2022.
We specialise in providing intensive and bespoke, individualised treatment plans working collaboratively with patients and their families or carers.
What you'll be working:
- Part time hours - 38 Hours a week.
- 07:00am to 17:00pm.
- Monday to Sunday- working 4 days per week on a rota pattern.
What you'll be doing:
- To plan, review, and communicate all menus, co-operating closely with the hospital clinical teams and dieticians
- Understand the key objectives and deliverables in collaboration with Head of Support Services
- To order daily and weekly food supplies, in accordance with requirements of planned menus and ensure goods received are in accordance with orders placed, invoices received and required quality
- Overseeing staff performance daily
- Ensuring compliance according to PPM books and Food Safety regulations
- Maintain detailed plans, including actions, owners and timelines.
- Schedule rotas and arrange cover in cases of absence
- Monitor inventory levels order supplies and manage food costs.
- Ensuring weekly Food Hygiene and environment cleanliness audits and where necessary action plans to address any issues arising from the audits.
- Ensure correct usage, storage and care of food products, stock control and equipment.
- Manage a team of Chefs and kitchen assistants, providing direction, motivation, and support to ensure a cohesive and successful team.
- Delegate and monitor tasks and responsibilities to team members, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
- Identify and communicate any potential conflicts or issues that may arise.
- Conduct supervisions & appraisals that are timely and constructive.
- Handles discipline as needed and in accordance with company policy
- Serve as the main point of contact for suppliers, providing regular updates on status, risks, and changes.
- Organise and lead meetings, preparing and distributing meeting minutes and action items.
- Prepare detailed reports for senior management as needed.
- Identify key risks and potential solutions to address potential issues.
- Monitor and manage timelines, ensuring deadlines are met and deliverables are completed on time.
- Ensure that deliverables meet required standards and quality expectations.
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety, Food safety and Infection Control Policies in all areas.
What you'll have:
- Work experience as a Head Chef or similar role
- Hands-on experience with food preparation and managing a kitchen environment.
- Experience working with teams.
- Experience of handling conflicting priorities and expectations to ensure successful outcomes.
