We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to join Murdostoun Brain Injury Rehabilitation and Neurological Care Centre in North Lanarkshire.
At Murdostoun Brain Injury Rehabilitation and Neurological Care Centre, we offer neurorehabilitation, care and support to people over the age of 16 years with a brain injury or other neurological condition, helping every person we support feel safe, happy, empowered enabling them to live the best life possible.
As a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant, you will work closely with qualified Speech and Language Therapists to support the delivery of therapy programmes for individuals with a range of communication and complex needs. You will play a key role in helping people participate in activities, develop skills, and achieve positive outcomes. The role: This role is Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours a week based at our Murdostoun site. - To work under the guidance of a SALT in the delivery of clinical interventions using a range of technical and creative skills to engage patients / residents / young people.
- Under the supervision of a SALT, facilitate and participate in planned group work, individual activities, and ongoing continuous assessment with supervision.
- Contribute to therapy assessments and treatment plans under the guidance of a SALT.
- Under supervision of a SALT, provide a range of equipment and activities, instructing and guiding patients / residents / young people with more complex needs to support them in achieving identified Speech and Language therapy goals, with some supervision.
- To actively promote patient / resident / young person and family / carer participation in interventions.
- To update the electronic patient record in consultation with clinical colleagues.
- Maintain their own training compliance with and ensure they are up to date with regulatory standards.
- Adherence to all Group policies and procedures and ensuring that all colleagues in the service are aware of and understand company policies.

What you'll have:
Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications
- Have a good understanding of the legal frameworks that are relevant to the role (e.g. Mental Capacity Act)
- Literacy and technology skills to be able to create reports and utilise specialised communication aid software.
- Ability to motivate patients over short & long periods.
- Empathy, patience, and the ability to build rapport with individuals of all ages.
- Teamwork skills to collaborate with therapists, families, and other professionals.
- Ability to manage time and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Flexibility to adapt therapy activities to individual needs.
- Problem-solving skills to address challenges during therapy sessions.
Experience
Previous experience working with children, adults, or individuals with disabilities in a care or educational setting desirable.
Communication
Ability to interact effectively with children, adults, and families in a supportive manner. Clear verbal and written communication to convey information and document progress.
